a Event Closed  Z

This event is RAIN or SHINE!

If you've paid your money and you're ready to go, here are some things you should know before the trip.  Our check in time is 10:30 AM.  There are things to do before we actually get on the river.  We'll be outfitted for life jackets, and given instructions on what to do if you fall out of the raft.  There's no help for you if you get hit with a bucket of water during the trip, but the last time the OTCG went rafting everyone dried out by Tuesday.  You should wear old sneakers, or water shoes.  We will be hiking down to the rafts on a very rocky trail.  You might want to keep that in mind. If it's cold, you can rent a wet suit.  I believe the cost is $13.00 but don't hold me to it.  You'll definitely want to bring a towel along in your car and a change of clothes unless you drive an amphibious vehicle, in which case you can drive down the river listening to the radio and drinking beer while the rest of us paddle and get soaking wet.  The money will be paid to Pocono Whitewater on Tuesday the 25th of August.  Please don't cry on my shoulder if you forgot, or didn't read your email.  Any questions?  Email Kevin at SomethingEye8@gmail.com

Lehigh Gorge Whitewater Rafting

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be having a water release on September 5th, 2009 that will raise the level of water in the Lehigh Gorge making gentle rapids that can be traversed by anyone between the ages of 8 and 80! That eliminates Barry's mom.  Sorry, Beulah.

Our course will take us through the state park's protected woodlands and mountains. Twelve miles and 5 hours of Class III whitewater rafting and outstanding scenery are yours.

This is an enjoyable, thrilling, and beautiful trip…and no experience is necessary! While paddling over 17 rapids you’ll scream, laugh, swim, and have an excellent day.  And you'll be very wet.  Why some people have even been known to get splashed with paddle spray and whenever anyone nearby is enthusiastically bailing out their raft.  Why, I know you'll find this hard to believe, but on the last rafting trip, there were actually water fights along the way!

Knowing how to swim can't hurt you, but it's not really necessary.  You'll have a Coast Guard approved life preserver on the whole time.  But all you really need to know how to do is stand up.  The river is relatively shallow.  And if standing up is a challenge, there will be experienced river guides on the trip so that if you do something horrible like break a fingernail, or stub your toe, they can put a splint on the injured spot until you can get to an emergency room and be admitted and put into traction...after the seven hour operation by the world famous surgeon Dr. Everyone Haslived-Sofar, M.D., R.F.D., S.O.P., of course.

Cost of the event is a mere $59.95 plus tax.  And it takes a $15.00 per person deposit to hold your spot on the trip.

All reservations must be paid in full 10 days prior to the day of your trip. If I don't have the money in advance I'm sure Pocono Whitewater will give you a rain-check.  I won't be spotting anyone the cash unless you're a relative and even then it's questionable.  Ex-wives and girlfriends get nothing.  Bummer!

Cancellations made more than 10 days prior to a trip may be rescheduled or refunded. If you cancel within 10 days of your trip, Pocono Whitewater will happily reschedule your trip for another date or send rain-check vouchers.

You can buy a lunch and a drink at the staging area to take along with you.  We'll be eating on the trip.

The weather policy:  the Pocono Whitewater rafting runs rain or shine.
